I have tried to answer as many of the questions I get asked by my clients below. If anything isn’t covered please don’t hesitate to contact me either by phone on 07535 129407 or email neil@neilfostersportsmindcoach.co.uk

What makes me different to other people offering a similar service?

Firstly, I dont just talk the talk I walk, the walk. I spend a lot of my spare time riding and competing, and every year I set myself a new challenge. But also my unique skill set is what makes me different. It is all very well training and taking qualifications in psychotherapy coaching, NLP and hypnotherapy, which I have done but what I believe makes me different is that I use the skills personally almost on an every day basis whether it is training for an equestrian event, knocking time off my PB or learning a new skill. So I know what I do works.

What happens in a typical session?

Our first session together is an in depth initial consultation discussing what you are trying to achieve, how we can work together, the way forward and a brief explanation of any techniques we may use and any questions you may have including the number sessions you may need. Every session is held in a relaxed and friendly way and a full explanation of what we are trying achieve and techniques that will be used are discussed at the beginning of each session. Each session lasts about 50 minutes. Every session is followed up with notes and any homework you are required to do between sessions.  Sometimes I will send over an audio file if the session needed it.

How many sessions will I need?

No one can really answer that until we have discussed your aims and what you want to achieve. I will however tell you that change doesn’t happen over night. Some of the techniques I use are powerful and change can take place quickly, however I would say typically I work with people for around 4 sessions.  It really does depend on what you as a sports person want to achieve, whether you want to make small changes or you wish to work with me across a whole season to have that support and achieve your best ever results.

How will I know it works?

Most of the sports people I see make progress from the first session and each session after that.  So you will know it works by the progress you make between sessions and the results you achieve.

Will it wear off?

All the changes we make together are permanent and the only way to go back to your previous state of mind would be if something else happens that would affect it or if you consciously choose to go back to your previous way of being.

I am not close to your office can I still work with you?

The very simple answer is yes!  I work with sports men and women all over the UK to help them achieve their goals.  I do this by using video calls such as Facetime, Duo, Zoom, Skype etc.  With today’s technology you don’t have to physically be in the same room as me. You can literally be anywhere in world!

What is NLP?

NLP is a name given to a whole bunch of tools and techniques that I use to help clients achieve their goals.

What is hypnosis?

This is the bit that gets a lot of my clients worried yet it is the one tool that creates the best and biggest results.  However there really isn’t anything to worry about.  To put it simply, hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness that harnesses the power of your unconscious mind.  Don’t worry I can’t control your mind and I can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do and that includes clucking like a chicken!  If you check out my blog page on here I’ve written a small article and video about what hypnosis is and isn’t to put your mind at ease.

I really want to work with you but I can't afford to pay your fee's all at once. Is there any way I can still work with you and spread the cost over a longer period?

I absolutely love what I do and want to help as many sports men and women to be the best they can be so that is why I have set up 3 packages to suit my clients.  Each package has the option to spread the cost of your sessions over a longer period.  Visit my prices and packages page for more details.
